Volodymyr Shynkaruk was a renowned Ukrainian poet, composer, and bard, born on August 19, 1954, in Vchoraishe, Zhytomyr Oblast. He graduated from the Faculty of Philology at Zhytomyr State Pedagogical Institute and later taught there, progressing from assistant to professor. Shynkaruk authored over 80 scientific publications and several monographs. As a musician, he released multiple albums, including "Dim dlya dushi" (2002) and "Kolir tyshi" (2007). His song "Svitsha" was recognized as the best song at the International Competition of Young Performers of Ukrainian Pop Song named after V. Ivasyuk in Chernivtsi. In 1991, he was awarded the honorary title "Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine." Shynkaruk was also a member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine and published five poetry books. He passed away on December 6, 2014, in Zhytomyr. In his honor, the International Festival of Arts "Pisenny Spas" was established in 2015.
