Volodymyr Ivasiuk was a prominent Ukrainian composer and poet, and one of the pioneers of Ukrainian pop music. He was born in 1949 in the city of Kitsman and became a significant figure in the musical life of Ukraine. His most famous song "Chervona Ruta" became a symbol of Ukrainian pop and is known far beyond Ukraine's borders. Ivasiuk wrote over a hundred songs, many of which have become classics of Ukrainian music. Unfortunately, his life was tragically cut short in 1979. Annually, festivals and competitions are held in Ukraine in honor of Volodymyr Ivasiuk, gathering young performers from across the country.
