He graduated from the Physics Faculty of Lviv University in 1972 and later earned a Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematics. Zhuk has authored over 300 songs in Ukrainian, Russian, and Polish, often performing them himself. His music blends traditional styles with contemporary themes. He has also written more than 30 scripts for popular science and educational films, including "Rhythms of Theatrical" (1979) and "Mykhailo Hrushevsky" (1993). Additionally, Zhuk has authored children's books and a play for puppet theater. He was awarded the Vasyl Stus Prize in 1997 and received the Grand Prix for Best Lyrics at the First All-Union Festival of Author's Song in 1986.
